Twin Towns traffic to be monitored as businesses report losses

Businesses in the Twin Towns are reporting a 35% drop in custom as a result of the ongoing road works in the Twin Towns.
Donegal Deputy Thomas Pringle says there are concerns in Ballybofey and Stranorlar as businesses have had to cut staff hours which Deputy Pringle says has had a knock-on effect on staff wages and people shopping local.
Donegal Deputy Thomas Pringle along with Ballybofey man, Alan McMenamin, has met with the Senior Executive Engineer of the National Roads Design Office in Donegal who has assured them that the concerns of businesses in Ballybofey have been heard and aditional monitoring and communication with businesses will be more proactive.
Deputy Pringle says, it is evident from speaking to local business owners that the roadworks are having a negative impact on the town.
A commitment has been given that exact completion dates will be circulated and traffic flows will be monitored.
Manned stop and go signs will be synced with the traffic lights at McClays Corner and other works in a bid to reduce tailbacks.
Gardai have also been requested to monitor traffic at night to stop motorists jumping the lights.
