Some Donegal dairy farmers are faced with the threat of incurring very serious superlevy fines if their milk production exceeds their quotas.
Some milk processors are 15% up on milk supplies compared to this time last year, in 2010 Ireland only narrowly escaped incurring superlevy fines.
Farmers are being warned that going ‘over-quota’ could lead to them incurring the kind of financial penalties that could devastate their income and trigger a cash flow crisis.
