Council to object to Dungloe Community Hospital bed closures

Donegal County Council is to formally object to the H.S.E. over the decision to close beds at Dungloe Community Hospital.
The council will also ask the executive to allow for long term absent staff to be replaced and allow the beds re-open.
Donegal County Council’s monthly meeting yesterday was told that a HIQA report was used as the reason to close the beds, even though the report does not contain such a recommendation.
The HSE is also being asked to outline the long term future of the hospital.
Meanwhile a cross party delegation of councillors is to seek a meeting with the Health Minister Dr James Reilly during his visit to Donegal on Thursday.
Councillor Ciaran Brogan says that the geographical layout of the Donegal means more money should be invested in health as opposed to cuts being made.
He says that case needs to be put clearly to the  Health Minister:
