A school principal and Donegal INTO committee member says any proposal to increase pupil teacher ratios will impact on the quality of education at primary school, and see Ireland’s OECD scores fall further.
Liam Mc Gowan says this will cause further damage to Ireland’s international reputation at a time when education is more important than ever.
Reacting listener Marianne wrote  ‘Someone with common sense….hooray!!! Bigger classes means less time per child…’  while Elizabeth comments ‘He`s right. American schools are falling short and increased class sized is one of reasons for it.’
It’s emerged that pictures of police officers are being published on a Facebook site which claims the PSNI is harassing republicans.
The site encourages members to post images and details of police operations across Northern Ireland. Reacting  Blue SkyBag wrote ‘I have never understood the strategy of acting like hard asses to a culture which has traditionally fought oppressive force to the death’
Highland Radio revealed exclusively that Donegal County Council, the Donegal VEC and the LYIT are amongst groups ‘named and shamed’ for failing to buy cut-price stationery that could save taxpayers up to €2.5m a year.
Reacting Bernard asked ‘why would they bother when us idiots are doing the paying’ John Joe commented ‘value for money should be the most important consideration. If loyalty to the local rate payer is more important than the best deal available, we all end up paying for it in the long run...’
Highland Radio News also revealed that Donegal County Council will learn by years end if An Bord Pleanala will approve its plans for linkages to the new A5 road project – IanHolyoak chipped in with ‘ Hope this all goes ahead..N14 easily the most dangerous road in the County..‘
