Former Irish Olympic race walker Rob Heffernan will be guest of honour at the 2019 Donegal Sports Star awards which take place later this month.
Heffernan has appeared in five Olympic Games and was a World Championship gold medal winner in 2013.
The awards were officially launched on Monday evening at a special event in Letterkenny’s Mount Errigal Hotel during which awards committee chairperson Grace Boyle revealed the Cork athlete as this year’s special guest.
The launch also saw each of the individual award winners from 1979 honoured with special presentations – 40 years on from when they received their sports star awards.
Former Highland Radio sports presenter Myles Gallagher, who received a special appreciation award last year, formally launched this year’s Sports Star awards.
The event takes place on Friday night, January the 31st and tickets are now on sale from the Mount Errigal Hotel reception.
And chairperson Grace Boyle said the demand for tickets is expected to be very high again this year…
