Decline in Covid-19 testing positivity rate is good news – Reid


The head of the HSE says the positivity rate in testing for Covid-19 has declined over the past 8 days, and the number of close contacts has also reduced to an average of 3.
Paul Reid says while it’s still very early, the numbers are good news.
It comes as the latest figures show 295 people are being treated in hospital for the virus – a decrease of 20 since yesterday afternoon.
37 people are in ICUs.
In Letterkenny University hospital there are 18 confirmed cases and 3 in ICU as of yesterday evening.
Meanwhile, a public health expert is concerned the number of coronavirus cases may rise again over the Christmas period.
