Letterkenny Town Council has backed a draft Winter Maintainence Plan, with a number of priority routes identified for treatment and commitments to keep town centre footpaths as clear as possible.
In a report to the council, members were told that Met Eireann is not 100% accurate in its forecasting, and ice free roads cannot be guaranteed.
Town Engineer John Mc Carron recommended that the council adopt the plan which outlines the priority routes, commits the council to ongoing training and promises special responses for fires and other emergencies, medical callouts and wakes.
