An Independent County Council has joined the ranks of those who believe Donegal County Councillors will not be able to agree to pass a budget for this year when they meet in Lifford tomorrow.
Councillors failed to reach agreement on the budget when they met in December with Sinn Fein, Fine Fianna and a number of independents opposed to aspects of the county manager’s proposals.
A drastic cut in spending on Donegal’s roads and provisions that some feel will see a cut to front line services some of the key issues.
If agreement can’t be reached, central government may be forced to intervene and determine how money is spent in Donegal.
Independent Councilllor John Campbell opposed the budget in December, he says nothing has changed and it is likely the budget will fall:
