The Cabinet will meet this afternoon to consider increased restrictions ahead of Christmas.
NPHET has recommended limits on how many people can meet in a home, and a return to last year’s rules on hospitality.
That would mean no booking multiple tables, earlier closing times and everyone would need to be seated – marking the effective closure of nightclubs.
While caps on attendance at concerts, matches and cultural events are being considered.
CEO of the Restaurants Association of Ireland Adrian Cummins met the Taoiseach this morning – and said supports were promised to the hospitality sector:
