RAAD threat against two Derry men lifted after talks

The threat from the vigilante group Republican Action Against Drugs(RAAD) against two Derry men has been lifted.
Following the shooting earlier this week of Ciaran McFadden and his cousin Sean by RAAD there were reports that two other young men were due to be shot in connection with the same incident the McFaddens had been accused of being involved .
It emerged last night that after negotiations involving community activists with the vigilante group the threat against the two has been removed.
Hugh Brady, a community activist associated with the Rosemount Resource Centre welcomed the move.
Last night Ciaran McFadden the father who saw his own son being shot said he was glad to hear the news that the threat had been lifted.
He said he didn’t want another family to have to go through what his family did.
A rally is due to be held today to protest against the actions of RAAD after the shooting of the two young men.
The McFaddens were shot ‘by appointment’ on Wednesday night and after the shooting of his son which he witnessed Ciaran McFadden branded the vigilante group as ‘bullies with guns’.
Wednesday’s shooting took place despite a protest rally by local women against the vigilante group.
