A Donegal Deputy has slammed the Government after it passed legislation yesterday allowing for the new National Maternity Hospital to be built.
Deputy Thomas Pringle raised the issue directly to the Taoiseach in the Dail during Leaders’ Questions, focusing on the term “clinically appropriate” that has caused controversy for many, raising concerns if the new National Maternity Hospital will be secular from the Catholic Church.
He also questioned Michael Martin on whether the hospital truly is publicly owned.
Deputy Pringle told the Taoiseach that the Government’s explanation of the inclusion of “clinically appropriate” isn’t good enough – and asked why the term still remains in the Hospital’s contract, despite most shareholders agreeing it should be removed:
