A Donegal Councillor is calling for changes to the approved list of newspapers for the publication of planning notices.
Cllr Jack Murray says there was recently a case where a potentially contentious application for wind turbines in Inishowen was missed by local people, because the notice appeared in the Irish Times.
He says with three local papers serving the area, the council should make it mandatory for notices to appear in one of those.
He also wants any applications for large, non-residential developments to be brought to local electoral area meetings so that councillors can inform and consult with the community.
Cllr Murray says the controversial application which led to his concerns was rejected by the council, but it could have been passed without the community even being aware of it, and that’s not acceptable……..
