Gardai in Letterkenny have seized a car after the driver was caught driving in excess of the speed limit and with a worn tyre.
During an early morning speed check yesterday, the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit stopped the motorist who had been travelling at 120KPH in a 100KPH speed zone.
It was discovered that one of the tyres on the car was excessively worn and Gardaí suspected that the driver may not have been insured.
The car was subsequently seized and fixed Charge Penalty Notices issued as enquiries continue into the driver’s insurance status.
Gardai are urging motorists to check tyres regularly, slow down and ensure documentation is in order.
