Promised fuel price cuts scrapped by Government

A government oversight over an oil levy means a fuel cut promised in the budget has been scrapped, costing motorists a total of an additional €20 million euro.

A report in today’s Irish Independent says Department of the Environment sources have confirmed the promised cut of 1 cent per litre is not now going ahead.

That’s despite the Department of Finance having followed with a promised cut in excise duty.
