Inflation rising at fastest rate in nearly 40 years

Inflation is rising at its fastest rate in almost 40 years.

Central Statistics Office figures show the cost of living rose by 9.1% in the year to the end of June.

The biggest increases were in the cost of fuel – with diesel up more than 50% and petrol costing 43.8% more in a year.
