Donegal County Council is to liaise with Transport Infrastructure Ireland in a bid to have a resurfacing project carried out on N56 between Illistrin and Coolboy.
Cllr Michael McBride says the road surface is breaking up badly, and motorists are reporting broken windscreens as a result of loose chippings.
He says while this stretch is a priority, there are other stretches of the N56 that are in need of resurfacing, particularly between Termon and Dunfanaghy:
