Efforts continuing in to tackle vacancy and dereliction in Donegal

Efforts are ongoing in Donegal to identify vacant properties and their owners in a bid to bring them back into use.

Donegal County Council is continuing to work to tackle vacancy and dereliction throughout the county.

Supports available include the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant Scheme which provide grants of up to €84,000 to refurbish vacant and derelict properties that have been vacant for two years or more if it is the owner’s principal private residence or made available to rent.

Financial support is also provided through the Repair and Release Scheme – €80,000 per unit is available to bring vacant properties back into use to lease to the Council for social housing in areas where there is a need.
