Donegal County Council to go public on consultation to reduce speed limits

Donegal County Council is to go to public consultation on a proposal to reduce speed limits in a number of areas.

A draft document has been produced by the council proposing a number of changes, including reductions from 80 to 60 kilometres per hour in some areas.

The reduction of limits from 50 to 30 kph in a number of housing estates is also included.

Members agreed to go ahead with the consultation, however, several warned that changing speed limits will not in itself resolve road safety issues.

Among them was Cllr Declan Meehan.
