Water problems continue to plague Falcarragh and Gortahork – McClafferty

A West Donegal Councillor says Uisce Eireann continues to refuse to meet with local representatives while people in Falcarragh, Gortahork, and into Gweedore and the Rosses are once again without water because of reservoir issues.

Cllr Michael McClafferty says on Sunday and yesterday, he sought water tankers and got no response, with several businesses now unable to fiuntion properly because they don’t have a water supply.

He told Greg Hughes on today’s Nine til Noon Show it’s clear there is a major problem with the reservoir and pumping station, and it needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency………….

Response from Uisce Éireann:

Uisce Éireann crews in County Donegal have successfully carried out repairs following a shutdown at Ardsbeg Water Treatment plant which impacted supply customers in Derryconnor, Falcarragh Village and surrounding areas over the weekend.

Network recovery is still at an early stage and most areas will start seeing a return of water throughout today. For some customers on higher ground or at the end of the network it may take longer for supply to return.

Uisce Éireann’s Paul Lyons thanked customers for their patience while crews carried out repair works.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our crews worked to ensure that a normal water supply is returned to all of our customers as soon as possible. To help the network to refill as quickly as possible we are appealing to customers to help conserve water as it starts to return,” said Paul.
