A Letterkenny councillor has commended early morning refuse staff from preventing a homeless man becoming seriously injured when he was sleeping rough in a food waste bin earlier this week.
Cllr Gerry McMonagle says the incident has highlighted scarcity of resources available in the county to support people who are finding themselves without somewhere to go.
It’s his view that while there is a strong homeless action plan on paper for the county, there services simply aren’t there to enforce it:
