‘Decision for people to vote from Northern Ireland for President long overdue’ – Deputy Mac Lochlainn

A Donegal Deputy says a decision to extend the right for people from Northern Ireland to vote in the Presidential election is long overdue.

Speaking in the Dail yesterday evening, Sinn Féin TD Padraig Mac Lochlainn said people in the North have been contributing to achievements in Irish sport for years, yet cannot vote for President.

He asked that the legislation be brought in in order to strengthen the relationship between the nations:
