DCC adopts five-year Plant Purchase and Refurbishment Plan

Donegal County Council has adopted a five-year Plant Purchase and Refurbishment Plan.

It includes an investment of €3.3 million in machinery.

The 2024-2028 Plant Purchase and Refurbishment Plan sets out requirements to meet the needs of the Council delivery service while complying with climate action and vehicles directives legislation.

The investment will consolidate the Council’s fleet and the provision of fit-for-purpose, safe and modern plant, which will enable completion of work operations in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner.

The plan allows for an investment of €660,000 in winter service support in addition to TII funding of €470,000 for national routes equipment.

It also makes provision for €1.06 million to be spent on electric vehicles and a further €1.2 million investment in road maintenance equipment, and supports with €390,000 allocated for the refurbishment or repurposing of existing plant machinery.

The budget is provided through the charging of depreciation on council-owned vehicles, which is estimated to be on average, €500,000 – €600,000 per annum.
