The coastguard in Greencastle fears they will be unable to launch efficiently due to the harbour needing to be dredged.
In a recent meeting of Inishowen Municipal District representatives from the locals piers and harbours made a presentation, saying staffing levels need to be increased to ensure proper maintenance.
Efforts are ongoing to see a dredging licence obtained.
