
Two people have been arrested following vehicle stops in the Waterside area of Derry.
Police say at approximately 4.15pm yesterday, officers on proactive patrol stopped a vehicle in the Groarty Road area.
The driver, a man in his 20s, was found to be in possession of a quantity of cannabis and was subsequently arrested.
He has since been charged with possession of a class B controlled drug and obstructing police, and is expected to appear before Londonderry Magistrates Court today.
Whilst officers were dealing with this incident, another vehicle was observed to be reversing further up the road due to police presence.
The vehicle was stopped, and the driver, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to custody where he was charged with possession of a class A controlled drug and a number of driving offences including taking a motor vehicle without authority and driving without due careand attention.
He is expected to appear before Londonderry Magistrates Court next month.
