Cllr. Declan Meehan has criticised a decision not to approve a consultant dermatologist post at Letterkenny University Hospital.
The National Clinical Lead for Dermatology, Professor Anne Marie Tobin, refused to sanction the role, saying a standalone consultant position in Letterkenny would be inappropriate, despite this being the case in Sligo University Hospital.
Cllr. Meehan says the decision is unfair, pointing out that Donegal patients must currently travel to Sligo, with some facing journeys of up to two and a half hours each way.
