A bill to regulate private, home support providers is long overdue, but needs far more clarity, according to Aontú.
The legislation, currently before the Seanad, would establish an inspection scheme and make it an offence to operate a home support service without registration.
Aontú senator Sarah O’Reilly says the bill is necessary to protect vulnerable adults who are inviting strangers into their home to care for them.
But she says the details aren’t clear:
