Women who suffer an early miscarriage are to receive paid leave for the first time.
Cabinet ministers look set to approve five days of paid leave for those who miscarry before 23 weeks of pregnancy, to be covered by an employer.
Up to now, paid time off to recover has only been available to women who loose a baby after 23 weeks, which is classed as a stillbirth.
It’s thought the new paid leave may also be available to women who terminate a pregnancy.
