Junior Health Minister Kathleen Lynch has accused Donegal South West Deputy Pearse Doherty of acting in a reprehensible manner by striking fear into the hearts of vulnerable people.
She was speaking during a Dail debate on bed closures in Community Hospitals in Donegal.
The issue was raised by Deputy Doherty, who said the the HSE recruitment moratorium remains the key problem, and if that is not lifted, bed closures and inadequate staff levels will render the situation worse.
He said elderly people and their families are worried……
Responding, Minister Lynch said five of the ten beds closed at Dungloe District Hospital would reopen within the next week, and the four closed beds at Carndonagh Community Hospital would be reopend this month on a phased basis.
She rejected a claim from Deputy Doherty that the system is broken, and said the government is planning to meet the needs and desires of older people……….
