It appears that there will be no ferry service between Buncrana with Rathmullan this year.
Despite the extension of the closing date for tenders for the Lough Swilly service, no workable proposals to allow the service go-ahead this summer have been received.
Councillor Liam Blaney, who had said last month he was hopeful of the service going ahead, says he’s now received final confirmation this morning that this is not the case.
Councillor Blaney claims the political will was never there within the council to support the Ferry, he says the subsidy provided by the local authority and the length of the contract offered was not enough:
