Rory McIlroy has won the Open Championship at Hoylake.
The Down man claimed the Claret Jug for the first time, with a 1 under round of 71 to finish up on 17 under par3
Sergio Garcia finished second on 15 under par, with Rickie Fowler one shot further back on 14 under.
Elsewhere, Shane Lowry shot a bogey free course record-equalling 65 this afternoon, including 7 birdies, to end up on 10 under par.
Graeme McDowell also ended on 10 under after carding a 67, while Darren Clarke shot a 73 to end up on 4 under.
McIlory was understandably over the moon when he spoke shortly after coming off the final green….
