Having won Ulster titles during the summer and after reaching this years All Ireland Final’s, Donegal is very well represented in the Ulster GAA Writers Awards nominations.
The performances of the Donegal senior footballers’ is greatly reflected in the nominations for the Male Footballer of the Year with three short-listed.
Neil McGee has been among the outstanding defenders this season while no-one will forget the performances of Ryan McHugh against the Dubs and also against Monaghan. Add in Michael Murphy’s leadership of the team throughout the year and you have got a formidable trio.
Kilcar duo Ryan Mc Hugh and Stephen Mc Brearty along with Tyrone handballer Johnny Woods are the nominees for the Cormac McAnallen Young Achiever Award.
The Donegal senior and minor teams are among the nominees for the Team of the Year Award.
The Ulster GAA Writers Awards will be held in Bundoran on Saturday 1st November.
