Investigation under way after helicopter targeted with a laser during search operation in Gaoth Dobhair

Gardai in Milford are investigating reports that the Sligo emergency helicopter was targeted with an alleged laser in the early hours of this morning.
The helicopter was assisting in a search along with several other rescue units for a missing Gaoth Dobhair man.
The pilot contacted Malin Head coastguard station when a laser was directed at him.
Malin Head  coastguard contacted Milford Garda Station who are investigating the matter.
A 52 year old man’s  body was later recovered from a quarry pond at Meenderrygamph in Gaoth Dobhair this morning.
Gardai are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
