The long trip south to Cork for Derry City

Derry City will be on the road again this Friday night as they make the long trip south to take on John Caulfield’s Cork City.
With the rebels sitting in second position in the table and having the upper hand over the Candystripes last season, Peter Hutton’s men know that this will be a very tough test.
They will however bring into the game a lot of confidence after a dominant performance at home last weekend against Drogheda united. Three goals in that game including two from Striker Anthony Elding and a wonderful strike from Barry McNamee on his 100th appearance for the club, have gotten the Foylesiders back on track after a disappointing loss on the road to St Patrick’s Athletic last Tuesday.
Speaking ahead of the game Derry Manager Peter Hutton had this to say : “Cork City away in Turners cross is always one of the fixtures as a a player and now as a manager you look forward to. The pitch is always in good condition and the atmosphere in the ground is always great and that is what you, as a player looked forward to. Don’t get me wrong, Turners Cross has always been a difficult venue to go to and get anything at the best of times. And during the off season John (Caulfield) has strengthened what was already a very, very good squad when you consider that they were just pipped to the title on the last day. And the acquisition of the likes of Karl Sheppard, Liam Miller and Alan Bennett to the squad just to name a few, they have added real strength in depth, with experienced players so they are a formidable outfit.”
Derry will travel to Cork once again with a number of players on the treatment table, Josh Daniels is the latest man to pick up an injury having picked up an ankle injury in training and he joins Shaun Kelly (knee) Dean Jarvis (toe ) and Stephen Dooley (back) who are all out of Friday evenings game.
