Derry look to repeat opening night victory over Galway

 
Derry will start the second series of games in this season’s campaign with a home tie against Galway united on Friday evening.
The Candystripes started their campaign off with a two-one win away to the Tribesman, two goals from Sean Houston and Ryan Curran seeing Derry come from behind to grab all three points.
Since that game Derry have only managed to win one other game on the road while they have drawn two and lost two.
After last weekend’s scoreless draw against Longford, Derry still sit in seventh in the table, just one place and four points ahead of Galway United.
Speaking ahead of the game Peter Hutton says “A bit like ourselves of late, Galway have been having a bit of a mixed bag of results. Prior to their defeat against St Pats they beat Bray five nil in the Carlisle grounds, so we know that they are very capable of getting a result. In Enda Curran they have a young striker who is in good form and has great potential, we know that ourselves from the time he spent at the Brandywell. He’s a very good striker and it’s unfortunate that he didn’t settle here”
” As well as Enda, Tommy Dunne also has the likes of Ryan Connolly and Jake Keegan who also score their fair share of important goals. With the signings of former Limerick duo, David O’Leary and Sam Oji, Tommy has added some experience to the side that help them play the brand of football that Tommy is looking for. This should be a very interesting game and one which our lads will need to perform at their best to get a result from. Having said that, the lads have been very good in training all week and they know they are very close to getting the big result that their performances of late have deserved.”
On the Injury front, Derry will be without the service of Patrick McEleney (groin) – despite some light running during the week, Patrick is still a few weeks away from full training. Philip Lowry (groin) is classed as very doubtful, Stephen Dooley (back) will be back to the specialist this Friday and we will know more after we get the results from this scan, while Seamus Sharkey (concussion) will be off all duties for 14 days after he suffered his second blow to the head in two weeks
