Letterkenny Municipal District are calling for the new courthouse in the town to be started as quickly as possible.
In a motion moved at a meeting this week, Cllr Dessie Shiels said urgent attention is needed for the project, the only Donegal inclusion in the National Stimulus Plan announced in 2012.
At that point, work was to have begun on the new building in 2013, with completion by this year. However, Cllr Shiels says he’s now been told it could be October of this year before work even begins.
In the meantime, he says, facilities at the present courthouse are totally inadequate………
