The general manager of Letterkenny General Hospital has said that the hospital faces a huge challenge in the aftermath of Fridays flooding that has destroyed parts of the buildings.
Speaking at a press conference in the Mount Errigal Hotel this afternoon Sean Murphy said it will be months before the hospital will be back to anywhere near normal.
An external investigation as to why the flooding occurred is currently being carried out by a group of civil engineers.
When that is made known, a full report will then be commented on.
Manager of the hospital Sean Murphy says some services are continuing, and some services will be re-established sooner than others, but overall, he says it will be a significant amount of time before the hospital is reopened:
Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference this afternoon, the Clinical Director of Letterkenny General Hospital, Dr Paul O Connor says Altnagelvin and Sligo General Hospitals are coping well with the extra influx of patients.
But Dr O Connor said patients should only go to hospital in an emergency situation:
