National Basketball League result: LYIT Donegal 72 – 77 Dublin Lions
An exciting game for the LYIT Donegal basketball team against Dublin Lions ended in a cruel defeat for the local side yesterday.
At one stage, it looked like it was going to be LYIT Donegal’s first ever National Basketball League (NBL) win in their maiden campaign.
But the game ended in a narrow defeat at LYIT’s An Danlann sports complex.
Head coach Niall McDermott was bitterly disappointed and said: “It’s really frustrating to lose a close one like that, we were up seven with four minutes to go and should have had the composure to close it out but we made a few key errors, silly turnovers, and took some poor shots which let them back in it.
“When you compare it to last week it is a huge improvement.
“Our offence looked much better and we got a lot of the shots we wanted just couldn’t convert enough of them.
“The aim is to build on this now and try and make more improvements before our next game away to Sligo in two weeks’ time.”

LYIT Donegal now face back-to-back away games away to Galway Titans on October 9 and Sligo on October 22.
