Further funding is currently being sought by Donegal County Council for the removal and replacement of parapet walls on the Ivy Bridge, Cloghan.
The bridge was closed for a period of two months after the side wall collapsed last September.
Initial repair works were carried out by the local authority with a second phase of works costing in the region of €50,000 to €60,000 now due to commence this year.
Cathaoirleach of the Stranorlar Municipal District, Councillor Patrick McGowan says the strengthening of the bridge is a top priority for the coming year:
