Finn Harps players Luke McGlynn and Conor Campbell started for the Republic of Ireland U15s in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Spain in their opening match of an International Tournament in Spain, before the hosts won a developmental penalty shootout 4-1.
McGlynn was in midfield while Campbell was up front. Both players have featured before the Irish U15s.
Ireland took the lead on the stroke of half-time through Cian Kelly. Spain’s equaliser came from David Pecellin in the 50th-minute.
Under tournament rules, all drawn matches conclude with a penalty shootout, as the home side scored all four of their efforts to win 4-1. Tommy Fogarty scored Ireland’s only penalty.
Ireland play their second match of the tournament on Friday afternoon against the Netherlands at 4pm (5pm Spanish time) before Sunday’s concluding fixture against Hungary.
Meanwhile, Finn Harps player Michael Gallagher has been included in a Republic of Ireland U19 panel for a training camp next Monday and Tuesday.
Gallagher who has been signed by Ollie Horgan for the Harps senior squad has already had experience of the Irish U19s setup from last year when he made his debut in a friendly fixture against Wales.
Gallagher started the pre-season game for the Harps first team which resulted in a 2-1 win over Limerick F.C. at the AUL a couple of weeks ago.
The right-back will be hoping to see some game time for his country against the Drogheda Utd senior side on next Tuesday night which rounds of the two-day training camp.
Ireland are preparing for the Euro Qualifiers in March.
