Donegal County Council has again been hit by severe weather in east Inishowen, which has affected the public water supply.
The storm on Tuesday night knocked out power supply to that area including the water treatment plant at Redcastle.
The Council moved a generator into the Redcastle Plant yesterday and powered up the works and restored water production The delay in water production affected reservoir levels from Cooley at Moville to Quigley’s Point and Iskaheen
Reservoirs at Quigley’s Point and Iskaheen continue to be affected today, with approx 200 houses still affected but it is hoped that most will be in supply this evening.
Water services staff have been opening / scouring the network to release air to help recovery.
The Council have also engaged two tankers this (Thursday) afternoon to transport water from Carndonagh supply to the affected area to speed up the recovery.
The Council intend to retain that tanker service again on Friday to finalise recovery
