Soccer – Wins for Harps and Derry

League of Ireland First Division Results
Finn Harps 2 v 1 Wexford Youths
Derry City 4 V 1 Mervue Utd
A wonderful strike from Tommy Bonner was enough for Finn Harps to come from behind and defeat Wexford Youths at Finn Park on Friday night. The former Letterkenny Rovers midfielder, after being fed by Kevin McHugh on the edge of the area, struck the ball superbly into the top corner for a real scrapbook goal with 17 minutes remaining. It completed a fine turnaround for the Donegal side, who went in at half-time a goal in arrears after a tepid first 45 minutes. Kevin Mc Hugh levelled the match for Harps on 50 minutes from the penalty spot.  Thats now three wins and three defeats for Harps in their opening six games.
Harps Manager James Gallagher

Derry City sit second in the First Division after a four one victory against Mervue United at the Brandywell. Two goals from James Mc Clean and one each from Ruairi Harkin and Patrick Mc Eleney gave Stephen Kenny’s side the points and their fourth win of the season. Derry trail the leaders Waterford Utd by six points.
