Donegal to host test legal challenge on council windfarm charges

Representatives of wind farm developments in Donegal are set to mount a legal challenge to what they say are outrageous charges by local authorities for establishing windfarms in the country.
A team of experts is set to take a test case in the courts in Co Donegal later this month, arguing that rates on wind turbines are too high.
Tax Consultant Niall Doherty who is advising the consortium says the case, which concerns a windfarm in Killybegs, could have huge implications for the development of renewable energy sources throughout Ireland.
