Soccer – Harps lose to Mervue

James Gallagher has questioned his players and his own position

League of Ireland First Division
Finn Harps 2 v 3 Mervue Utd
Monaghan Utd 0 v 1 Derry City
Finn Harps lost out to Mervue United at Finn Park on Friday night in what was a humiliating defeat for the Donegal men. Mervue were minus a string of first team regulars and were also without a win in their last 10 games. Harps got off to the worst possible start with Mervue getting two goals in the opening five minutes. It was an uphill battle from here on although the Harps faithful might have thought a comeback was on the cards when Kevin Mc Hugh pulled a goal back on the 48th minute. However it was not to be as Gaffney put Mervue 3 1 up in the final minute. Mc Hugh pulled another goal back for Harps in the last minute but it was a case of too little too late in what was a poor performance by the Ballybofey men.
After the game Harps Manager James Gallagher questioned his players and his own poisition.

Derry City remain top of the First Division after their one nil win away to Monaghan. The only goal of the game was scored by Patrick Mc Eleney. Derry lead Waterford by three points at the top of the standings.
Derry will host Finn Harps on Monday 10th May at the Brandywell in Round Three of the EA Sports Cup.
