A 50-year-old man who had been charged with robbing and falsely imprisoning an 83-year-old woman in Derry was yesterday found not guilty by a unanimous verdict of the jury.
Anthony Burke of Eglinton Terrace had been charged with robbing the woman in her own home last May.
The court had heard that the woman had fought off her attacker and tried to knee him in the groin before he escaped with a sum of money.
Mr. Burke had denied being in the house or involved in the burglary.
Earlier the court had been told that Burke had taken ill while in Maghaberry Prison on Saturday and had been taken to Lagan Valley Hospital where he was still being treated.
