There are calls for all illegal signs and hoardings around Letterkenny advertising businesses to be removed by the council.
Councilloir Tadhg Cullbert has also called on the council to review the process by which businesses are given planning permission to erect signs.
He says the illegal, and some legal, signs are an eyesore and are hindering the town’s success in the tidy town competition.
Councillor Cullbert says tough new penalties should be introduced to ensure businesses comply with the law.
