Evidence continues in Donegal sexual assault case

A teenager has told a Central Criminal Court jury that she fell asleep while babysitting, to wake up finding the father of the girl she was minding standing naked at the side of the bed.
The 44-year-old Donegal man, who can not be named for legal reasons, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of sexually assaulting three 13-year-old girls on separate dates between February 2006 and January 2007.
The trial continues before Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy and a jury of six men and six women.
The second of three complainants, who is now aged 18, told prosecuting cousel John O Kelly, that on a night on 2006, when the accused was celebrating a birthday in a local pub, she stayed overnight to mind his daughter.
She said the accused man and his partner went out at about 930pm and she stayed watching TV with his daughter until they returned at 330 in the morning. She said everyone then went upstairs to bed.
The girl said that she and the mans daughter quickly fell asleep in the same double bed. She said she awoke to find something touching her hand and when she opened her eyes she saw the accused standing naked by the side of the bed.
She said the man put her hand on his crotch, she then jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom.
She said the accused then told her to go back to bed, and she went back to the daughter’s room, where she stayed awake until she heard the accused go to his own bedroom.
