The highlight of the European Cup meet in Budapest Hungary on Saturday was City of Derry’s, Jason Smyth’s blistering victory in the 100m. The Commonwealth Games bound sprinter from Eglinton bettered his own Northern Ireland 100m record with a time of 10.27. Smyth continued his superb recent form by winning the race ahead of Portugal’s Francis Obikwelu. His time was 0.05 seconds quicker than his previous best, set last weekend in the NI Championships.
