Bundoran fire tragedy finally commemorated after 30 years

A memorial was officially unveiled in Bundoran yesterday to mark the 30th anniversary of the fatal fire at the Grand Central Hotel.
Five adults and five children, including a toddler, lost their lives in the blaze on August 8th 1980.
Some of the families of those who died have criticised the location and design of the memorial which is a bench located to the rear of the hotel. Councillor Sean McEniff initially opposed the memorial stating it would reopen old wounds.
Speaking at the unveiling yesterday Jim Kinsella, who lost two children in the blaze, says it does bring some closure:
