Two Donegal fighters have won gold medals for Ireland at the Multi Nations event in the Czech Republic. William Mc Laughlin from Illies Golden Gloves and Finn Valley’s Jason Quigley won their respective deciders on Saturday afternoon.
Mc Laughlin beat his Tunisian opponent 4-1 to take gold in the 69kg weight.
On route to the final, The Inishowen lad recorded one of the most impressive wins of the weekend when he ousted the current European welterweight champion from Hungary on a 3-2 verdict in the semi final.
Jason Quigley won gold after a 7-2 win against a Czech fighter in the 75kg decider. The European Youth champ beat the European bronze medalist from Belarus 6-5 to make today’s final.
