Donegal anglers give cautious welcome to poachers hotline

Donegal Anglers have given a cautious welcome to the introduction of a new  Confidential Phone Line which will allow people to report incidents of poaching and pollution of the country’s waterways.
The new initiative is from Inland Fisheries Ireland which states that the aim is to stamp out the antisocial practice of illegal fishing and to protect the fish and fisheries habitat.
However the secretary of the Federation of Irish Salmon and Sea Trout Anglers has questioned if the resources are there to follow up on any reports recieved.
Noel Carr says that while the introduction of the phone line is welcome, the system is open to exploitation:

The 24 hour hotline is 1890 34 74 24
